16B Percussion Rifle with Parkers inverted lock fitted with half stock
Description
A highly unusual, approximately 16 Bore Percussion rifle with Parkers inverted lock fitted with half stock, marked to the barrel, W Parker, gunmaker to his Majesty, Holborn London and with W Parker to the lock. The underside of the butt, behind the tang stamped J Squires and number 40. The rifle is crisp with some finish to the hexagonal barrel under which the pattern can be seen, traces of case hardening colour to the lock and crisp and some remaining blue finish to the trigger guard and the butt plate. The fore-end finial, side-nail plates and a shield beneath the nipple inset into the stock are of silver.
