Description
A very nice, and clean little flintlock pocket pistol, of the early 19th Century. With a 1-1/2 inch turn off barrel, with a lightly engraved main frame. This is signed “Oakes” and “Horsham”. The Box Lock flintlock system has a ring neck cock, complete with a flint, and a hinged Steel.
There is a sliding safety, and the concealed trigger is actioned by the1/2 to full cock mechanism. All metal work is now to a pleasing silver/grey patina, with minor speckling. There are Proof Marks stamped to the lower barrel housing.
Complete with it’s original slab sided walnut grip, in very good condition.
Charles Oakes worked in Butchers Row, Horsham, West Sussex from 1810 -1839.
This pistol manufactured C1810. The o/a length is 6 inches.
