Offered for sale is this fine quality Antique US Colt Model 1860 Army 6 Shot Percussion Revolver. With a shortened 5-1/2 inch round barrel. With a serial number # 40590 C.1862, indicating Civil War use. In 44 Percussion, 6 shots, and was probably the major side arm issued to the Union Forces. In excellent condition, and working order.

Offered for sale is this fine quality Antique US Colt Model 1860 Army 6 Shot Percussion Revolver. With a shortened 5-1/2 inch round barrel, with a very attractive Plum to Brown smooth Patina, with no pitting. There is a full “Address Sam Colt New York”, clearly stamped to the barrel top. The rifled bore is good, with some signs of slight wear. There is a creeping loading lever. The rebated cylinder retains some rolled scene of a Naval Engagement, and a clear “Colts Patent 0590”, again, retaining some Plum/Brown finish. The Serial number of this revolver is # 40590 ..C 1862. All matching numbers. The frame retains a thinned blue/brown patina,, with a clear Colt Patent logo, and is 3 screwed. The brass lower trigger guard has a clear serial number, which matches the 2 stamps to the lower frame, There is a grey steel Backstrap to the original One piece Walnut Grips, again with a matching serial number to the lower strap. This grip is in vg condition, with minor dings of age. and now to a nice dark patina, and varnished finish. Action to half and full Cock is strong, and indexation is accurate to all 6 chambers. The Colt Model 1860 Army was manufactured from 1860 to 1873, and was the main side arm of the US Civil War from 1861 to 1865. This example has one or two inspectors initials stamped to the metalwork, and was probably carried during the American Civil War . The o/a length is 11 inches.
There are a number of Colt 1860 Army revolvers, with a cut down barrel, sometimes to facilitate removal from it’s belt or Holster. There is a standard foresight in place close to the Muzzle.
