Description

Offered for Sale is an Antique example of this very popular 19th Century, revolver. Originally manufactured for the Royal Irish Constabulary C 1867, and then widely supplied for general British Military Service, and Armies and Police Forces throughout the world, many made or retailed by other makers. This example, is stamped “Westley Richards & Co”.
It has a 4 inch sighted barrel, with a good rifled bore, with some staining. The notched cylinder rotates accurately with either the Double, or Single Action, which is very sound and strong.
There is a hinged loading gate to the RHD of the cylinder.
Complete with a standard lanyard ring. All metal work is now to a no finish, grey patina of age and use, with generalised stain and speckling. The 2 Birmingham proof marks are now worn, but just visible. on the LHS rear of the barrel, but there is a clear Birmingham proof mark, stamped to the cylinder.
Complete with it’s original one piece checkered wrap round Walnut grip, in excellent condition.
Westley Richards flourished from 1812, and was carried on from 1865 by Westley Richards Jnr.
