Description

A pair of approximately 40 bore flintlock duelling pistols by John Manton circa 1790 with iron mounts and full stocks.  The sighted twist re-browned barrels with gold line touch holes are signed Manton London, numbered 12**.  These pistols have been well reconverted back to flint.  The butts of flatted bag shaped form, the locks with semi-rainproof pans and swan necked cocks, signed Manton.  The barrels are scratch rifled.

Condition:  Very good as partially refinished.  The barrels are well re-browned.  The locks have been case hardened and the steel finish guards have their original finish which is contemporary: the stocks barring one or two edge knocks and dents are in good condition commensurate with use.
